***TV alert!*** On Wednesday, February 1st, Rocky Mountain PBS (Channel 6) will be airing the NOVA special "Ice Age Death Trap". This program will explore the history of the Snowmass dig site. You may remember that our very own Chris Faison was a member of one of the digging teams this summer. Check the listings for the correct time of the program.
Class Announcements 1-2 Calendar EventsBe sure to regularly check our class calendar, which is (over there ------>) on the right side of this website. You will notice that any day that there is a 1st and 2nd grade specific event scheduled, that day will be highlighted in orange-red. If you wish to see additional details on any event, click on "View Full Calendar" for an expanded view. Keep a close eye on any updates, as we (try to) add new events in a timely manner.
 The Wheel of ChoiceThe Wheel of Choice is an important problem solving tool that we use in our classroom. It gives students the opportunity to be in charge of making decisions to resolve conflicts. Ask your first or second grader about their experience with the Wheel of Choice, and feel free to use a version of it in your own home!
Snack and lunch in the 1-2 classroomYou can help your 1st or 2nd grade child during snack and lunch times by making sure they come to school with all of the utensils and dishes they will need. We no longer have classroom dishes or utensils available for student use. We have also eliminated any available microwave time. If your child prefers warmer food during lunch, please heat it up at home and send it to school in a thermos so that it will be warm and ready to eat. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about our lunchroom policies.
 1-2 Class PhotosWe will use our Picasa Web Album to share our classroom photos with you. You can click here to view them. If you see a photo that you enjoy, you can leave a comment and let us know! Your children certainly have some lovely smiles!
School HoursOur school day is from 8:15 am until 3:00 pm. We take attendance every morning at 8:15 am. We release our students from our classroom at 2:50 pm so that the bus can leave as close to 3:00 pm as possible. If you plan on picking your child up at school after their day, keep in mind that they must be gathered by 3:00 pm. If there are extenuating circumstances, we certainly understand. Give us a call and let us know what's going on.
